  Can college graduate students apply for the scholarship?
Only High School graduates and Undergraduate students may apply.
 
  When are students notified that they have been selected to receive an award?
Trustees normally vote on new candidate awards just prior to the National Law Enforcement Explorer Conference. Letters will be mailed only to recipients of awards at that time, and the list of award winners will be posted on the website. Award recipients will also be recognized at the National Law Enforcement Explorer Conference.
 
  Will applicants receive confirmation of their complete application?
Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to respond to individual inquiries about receipt of your application or award status.
 
  When are award checks mailed?
You will be issued a reward letter at the time the award is announced. Checks reimbursing your eligible enrollment expense will be mailed directly to the award recipient within 2 weeks of our receiving evidence of your paid expenses.

  How can I donate to The James E. Breining Scholarship Foundation?

Our donors make this scholarship possible and we would like to honor them for their sacrifice.  We understand that there are many charities worthy of their donations and we want to thank them from the bottom of our hearts for their support of our efforts toward building tomorrow’s law enforcement officers of character.

Mail donations to The James E. Breining Foundation, 1201 Wall Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50315.  A receipt will be promptly returned.

100% of contributions go to the scholarship recipients. The entire cost of administration is paid by the board who are rewarded to see Lt. James E. ‘Jim’ Breining’s ideals of quality law enforcement officers live on. The board receives no financial compensation for their work.
